Partial Discharge Monitoring Solution for Gas-Insulated Switchgear

March 13, 2024

Partial discharge (PD) in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and gas-insulated lines (GIL) is a leading indicator that a fault will occur in the insulation, and immediate action needs to be taken to prevent a catastrophic failure.

Since PD accelerates the aging and deterioration of insulation, the continuous online monitoring, trending, and diagnostics of PD activity play a critical role in assessing insulation condition and the risk of failure in GIS and GIL throughout the equipment’s lifetime.

New PD monitoring solution for GIS/GIL
PARADIMO 100 is our new smart edge computing device that provides you with continuous monitoring and trending of partial discharge (PD) activity in Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and Gas-Insulated Lines (GIL). It contains all you need to automatically detect and classify the type of insulation defect in GIS and GIL and generates alerts for reliable risk assessment.

PD activity is simultaneously monitored via pre-installed UHF sensors in different frequency ranges using wideband and medium-band filters for optimal signal-to-noise ratios, even in noisy environments. Multiple PARADIMO 100 devices can be connected in series with fiber optic cables to monitor large areas of your GIS or GIL.
