Optional Tutorial Sessions

We are happy to provide two optional half-day tutorials on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. You can choose the IEC 61850 Tutorial, the Distribution Automation Tutorial with G&W, or attend them both.

This optional half-day session gives an introduction to the IEC 61850 standard for participants with no or little experience. It enables participants to get familiar with the standard and technologies. Seats limited!

Distribution Automation Tutorial by G&W Electric
This training module will go over ABB, GE, and SEL relays and their uses with underground switchgear. Topics that will be covered are automation, capabilities, communications, protection and what needs to be considered when designing controls using each relay. There will be case studies for each relay covered such as fault location, isolation, service restoration and loss of voltage when using ABB relays and SF6 switchgear. The tutorial and the evening reception will be graciously sponsored by G&W.
