Join us for updates on Test Universe
The Tennessee CMC User Group Meeting will focus on the use of Test Universe for testing protection of electrical power systems. It will highlight practical uses of Test Universe. Take the unique opportunity to attend the tutorial presentations by OMICRON Application Engineers. The workshop also includes live hands-on demonstrations. Please bring your CMC and a relay to test.

Application and Training Engineer
Scott Cooper has thirty years of experience in a variety of roles including substation commissioning, application Engineering, power plant operations, and technical training. He is active in the IEEE PSRC and has written numerous papers and magazine articles. He currently works as the Application and Training Engineer for OMICRON in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Application Engineer and Training Engineer
Tim received a BSEET from Franklin University located in Columbus, Ohio. Tim has 29 years of experience in substation, protection and control design, operation, testing and instructing for American Electric Power. Tim’s work experience includes time as a Protection and Control technologist in field work, Protection and Control training instructor and as a training manager for American Electric Power. AEP built a new state of the art Training facility to train their Transmission employees from 11 different states. This includes Substation, P&C Technicians and Transmission line mechanics. Developed scenarios for a training environment that reinforced and simulated protection & control schemes and substation simulation.
Other work experience includes owner of a Protection and Control contract company. Work included testing of reclosers for Coops, Checkout of protection schemes for a simple cycle gas turbine power plant. Performed various checkout of substations for utilities and engineering.
He is currently working for OMICRON Electronics since Septempber 2013 as an Application Engineer and Training Engineer supporting the North-East area of the US.
Area Sales Manager (Southeast US)
William Knapek received a BS degree in Industrial Technology from East Carolina University in 1994. He retired from the US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer after 20 years of service in 1995. During his time with the Army Corps of Engineers, he held positions as a power plant instrumentation specialist, a writer/instructor for the Army Engineer School, and a Facility Engineer for a Special Operations compound. He has been active in the electrical testing industry since retiring in 1995. He worked for NETA companies in the Nashville, TN area until joining OMICRON as an application engineer in April of 2008. He is currently the Area Sales Manager for the Southeast region. He is certified as a Senior NICET Technician and a former NETA Level IV technician. Will is a member of IEEE.
