Saudi User Meeting
Building on the major success of the German User Meeting (now in its 25th year) and also the success of the first Saudi User Meeting in 2017, we are excited to invite you to the second Saudi User Meeting.
We are pleased to bring together renowned experts from our own organization and other organizations to meet, share and learn about the latest developments in power equipment diagnostics, monitoring and protection testing. Up to date real life case studies will deliver accurate accounts of what is happening in the industry. This will help empower the participants to perform condition assessment in accordance with the requirements and possibilities of the hour.
The topics covered in the Saudi User Meeting are focused on providing detailed technical explanations and practical demonstrations (hands-on sessions) of the latest diagnostic techniques, both on-line and off-line, with the supporting knowledge and examples of recent case histories to substantiate the benefits of these approaches.

Omar Alghamdi is an electrical engineer earned his high diploma in electrical power from Dammam technical college in 2007, bachelor degree in electrical engineering from prince Mohammed bin Fahad university in 2015 and master degree in Sustainable Energy from King Fahad University for Petroleum and Mineral in 2018. He has 11 years of experience with Saudi Aramco. During this period, he gained a strong experience in high voltage electrical equipment testing, inspection, commissioning, incident investigation and performing condition assessment and routine maintenance for equipment such as transformer, circuit breaker, switchgear, ATS and DC systems. In addition, he participated in testing, inspection and installation of solar PV panel fields. then, He worked as an operation and control engineer in Saudi Aramco Power Control Centre. Recently, he moved to GCCLAB in testing, Inspection and calibration Services.

Mohammed Surrati from National Grid, Saudi Arabia, was born in Makkah and did his Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and graduated in 2002. He has experience in different scientific commities and is leading inititives of performance and employee talent management. He is team leader and member in different kingdom wise commities in national grid (AMR maintenance procedures, fault analysis procedures, asset risk assessment, protection maintenance procedures). He has already participated with technical papers in different conferences like Cigree GCC in Muscat 2012, Power quality committee conference in Al-Khobar 2013, OMICRON conference in Austria 2015.

Shams Ullah D. Shah
Technical Support Engineer
Shams Ullah D. Shah is from Generation Sector of Saudi Electricity Co (SEC). Currently he is working as Technical Support Engineer in Technical Support Department in SEC Head office. He completed his B.E. degree in electrical engineering from the HAMDARD University Pakistan. Since 2011 he has been working as a Testing and Commissioning Engineer with a focus on Power generation, transmission-substations and equipment manufacturing industry. From 2014 he acted as the leader of commissioning team for 13.8KV to 380KV substations inside KSA. His current interests include making maintenance manuals for Protection relays, Power Transformers and Circuit Breakers. He is one of the main authors of the “Transformers Maintenance Policy” and “Protection Testing Guidelines Policy” for COA-Generation sector. He has also worked in various profiles of Power system Protection and Power Plant Transformers e.g. testing & commissioning; relays/transformers training and design.
Martin Anglhuber received his degree in electrical engineering from TU München in 2007. From 2007 to 2011 he worked as a scientific assistant in the Institute for High Voltage Technology and Power Transmission for TU München in Germany where he performed research on polymer nanocomposites being used for insulation materials in high voltage apparatuses. He received his Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.E.E.) degree in 2012. He’s been working at OMICRON electronics in Klaus, Austria since 2012 as a product manager specialized in the area of dielectric transformer diagnostics.
Dr. Fred Steinhauser
IEC 61850 and Digital Substation Expert, OMICRON electronics
Fred Steinhauser studied Electrical Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology, where he obtained his diploma in 1986 and received a Dr. of Technical Sciences in 1991. In 1998 he joined OMICRON, where he worked on several aspects of testing power system protection. Since 2000 he worked as a product manager with a focus on power utility communication. Since 2014 he is active within the Power Utility Communication business of OMICRON, focusing on Digital Substations and serving as an IEC 61850 expert.
Fred Steinhauser is a member of WG10 in the TC57 of the IEC and contributes the standard IEC 61850. He is one of the main authors of the UCA Implementation Guideline for Sampled Values (9-2LE). Within TC95 of IEC, he also contributes to IEC 61850 related topics. As a member of CIGRÉ he is active within the scope of SC D2 and SC B5. He also contributed to the synchrophasor standards IEEE C37.118.1 and IEEE C37.118.2
Regional Application Specialist - Partial Discharge Measurements, OMICRON Electronics
Bavley Farid has worked as Application Engineer with a focus on Partial Discharge Diagnostics and Monitoring in OMICRON Electronics Middle east, since February 2016. Currently he is Regional Application Specialist for Partial Discharge Measurements on Transformer / Rotating Machines / Cables. He conducts theoretical and practical training courses, performs partial discharge measurements on HV assets and provides technical support to customers. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on High Voltage Systems from the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates in June 2015.
Christoph Engelen was born in Aachen and started working for OMICRON electronics in 2014 as an application engineer with a focus on transformer diagnosis. In 2013 he graduated from the RWTH in Aachen, Germany specializing in electrical engineering.

Anas Abdulkhader began working with OMICRON electronics Middle East in 2017 as Technical Support and Applications Engineer providing support to customers in Middle East and South Asia. In addition he has given formal training via OMICRON Academy courses in OMICRON’s training centers and also at customers’ premises. Anas graduated in 2013 with a Degree in Electricals and Electronics Engineering from the Toch Institute of Science and Technology in Kerala, India. Prior to joining OMICRON he worked for Hyosung Corporation as Field Service Engineer.
Mohamed Ibrahim Ali

Mohamed Ibrahim Ali has worked for OMICRON since July 2015 and provides technical and application support on primary and secondary testing and diagnostic substation equipment. Currently working as Regional Application Specialist for Protection testing. He conducts theoretical and practical training courses and also troubleshoots technical problems for customers. He finished his BSC degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 and his high post graduate studies (Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering) in 2007.
Stefan Schlichting, Dipl.-Ing. MBA

Stefan Schlichting has a Dipl.-Ing. Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration on Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering, and Electrical Machines from the Technical University Berlin, and studied Business Administration at Colorado State University with the focus on International Technology Management.
He has extensive practical experience in diagnostic testing of electrical machines in manufacturing, repair, and maintenance, working for testing technology companies in Europe, the U.S., and Canada.
With his application knowledge and experience from his work with engineers on electric power equipment in various countries and cultures he now focuses on Asset Data Management Products for the electric power industry.
