Power engineers require reliable tools to work with. Therefore, we put great efforts in the manufacturing, testing and calibration of our products. The video provides an inside look into this process.

For the manufacturing of components, we work together with selected, local partners with whom we have a long-term relationship. After manufacture, they run first automated tests such as flying probe and optical inspection on every single board.

When the boards come in to OMICRON, they are being tested again, so that only tested boards will be assembled to a device. Then we run a number of tests on each device in order to find any potential failures that would show only under “stress”. We start with a high voltage test, followed by a 72h heat run-in or “burn-in” test, with periods of high and low temperatures alternating, while the devices are in operation.

During calibration and adjustment, we warm up the device to consider component drifting. We collect all of the data and use it for analysis, reporting and constant improvement.

The three-phase test set, CMC 430, is the newest member of the CMC family and combines its outstanding performance as a relay tester and calibrator with hybrid measurement and recording facilities.

It is the preferred choice for test engineers in situations where excellent transportability is needed and currents up to 3 x 12.5 A or voltages up to 6 x 150 V are sufficient. Its light weight of just 8.7 kg / 19.2 lbs, and robust design with its edge protection, predisposes the device to every outdoor and indoor use.

Appropriate software tools also allow numerous applications from quick manual testing to distributed scheme tests which makes the CMC 430 a highly flexible solution.

43 participants from 12 countries attended the focused tutorials and the hands-on workshop to learn more about the technologies, get an overview of the products and solutions available and share experiences.
