Ari Tirroniemi, an application engineer at #OMICRON, explains why grounding systems are essential for the safe and reliable operation of electrical power systems.

Improper #grounding systems may not be able to carry total fault currents.
This may cause damage to primary assets such as #transformers.
It may even harm or destroy the functionality of electronic devices, like protection relays and communication equipment.

00:08 - Grounding systems are an essential part of electrical power systems.
00:37 - Dangerous step and touch voltages can occur inside and outside a substation.
00:50 - Use CPC 100 and the coupling unit, CP CU1 to verify the condition of your grounding system.
01:16 - Safety: Line fault currents of up to 30.000 amperes are safely diverted to the ground.
01:28 - With our solution, the assessment is carried out according to IEC and IEEE standards.
01:35 - The CPC 100 uses the Frequency Selective Method (FSM) to inject a test current into the grounding system to provide very reliable results.
01:55 - The test current can be injected via power line injection or a current probe injection.
