Testing circuit breakers is essential to ensure safe electricity supply, safe handling of network faults and safety for the utility's personnel. OMICRON's CIBANO 500 is the first 3-in-1 test system, which combines all the equipment that is needed for circuit breaker testing in one device: a micro-ohmmeter, a multi-channel timing unit, and a controllable DC supply to power drive motors and trip and close coils. Testing high-voltage circuit breakers presents a different set of challenges, such as several interrupters per phase and long distances between drive cabinet and main contacts. The combination of CIBAN0 500 and the main contact modules CB MC2 allows all tests on a circuit breaker to be performed with one test setup. Once they're set up, these simple and clear test connections do not require any changes throughout all of the tests (static and dynamic contact resistance, timing, under-voltage condition and minimum pick-up, as well as coil/motor current analysis). Using the CB TN3 accessory and a motion sensor, motion/contact travel tests can also be performed.
