EnerLyzer is a software option for the CMC 256plus and CMC 356, which enables powerful analog measurement functions. It offers four modes of operation: multimeter, harmonic analysis, transient recording and trend recording. When manufacturers perform ratio and winding resistance tests at the end of the production process or during factory acceptance testing, time is costly and performing such tests efficiently is crucial. The condition of the bushings and the overall insulation of power transformers can be investigated by measuring the capacitance and dissipation factor, also known as the tangent delta, or power factor. Aging and decomposition of the insulation, or the ingress of water, increases the losses and thus more energy is turned into heat in the insulation. The level of this dissipation is expressed by the dissipation factor or power factor. In the factory, the transformer ratio of each tap and the vector group are verified during production and acceptance testing. On site, ratio and magnetization current measurements are performed in order to assess possible winding damage, such as short circuits between windings or between turns.
