Our TEV1 is a passive and broadband sensor that can decouple transient earth voltages (TEV) or capacitively coupled signals from metal surfaces. Transient earth voltages can originate from partial discharge (PD) activities within medium-voltage (MV) switchgear and can be detected on its outer surface. The TEV1 sensor is also designed for installations on the surface of high-voltage equipment, such as metal walls of power transformers or power cable terminations. Magnets in the TEV1 sensor housing securely attach the sensor to metal surfaces. TEV detection can be performed online without interrupting operations and offers a reliable, nonintrusive, but less sensitive alternative to a standardcompliant PD measurement. Comparing the TEV readings provides essential information about which equipment needs to be checked for suspected PD activity with an offline PD measurement using our MPD 800 for more precise PD measurement and identification to determine corrective action. Existing MPD 800 devices can also benefit from a full-service IEC 17025 calibration, which also includes an OMICRON (ISO 9001) factory calibration. The MPD 800 is automatically tested, calibrated, and adjusted during OMICRON’s factory calibration. New MPD 800 devices can be purchased with both OMICRON factory and IEC 17025 calibrations before delivery.
