Power Factor / Grading Capacitance Measurement – GIS
Measuring the power factor, or the dissipation factor, also known as the tangent delta (tan δ), provides effective means for verifying the integrity of the insulation condition of circuit breaker components. In particular, the insulation condition of high voltage breaker bushings should be verified with this measurement. If the measurement is performed outside of mains frequency, interferences from nearby live station components can be filtered out and minimized. Measuring over a range of frequencies provides better insight into the insulation condition. Measuring the capacitance can help detect deterioration in capacitive layers of bushings.

CPX 200 + HVX10
Combining the CPX 200 and HVX10 enables high-precision capacitance and power/dissipation factor measurements for circuit breakers up to 10 kV, covering a frequency range of 1 Hz to 600 Hz. Four integrated measurement channels let operators guard the interrupters instead of grounding them, ensuring maximum accuracy.
