Magazine | Issue 2 2020 «We are seeing a growing trend in industry towards ‹Zero Fault Acceptance›. I believe that with modern technologies such as robotics and AI our industry is moving steadily in this direction.» Wernich de Villiers, Primary Testing Business Unit, OMICRON the ideal workflow for our customers. In other words, the easier and safer we can make the operation of the devices, the quicker and simpler the workflow is for the customer. The required mea- suring results must be made available with as little intervention as possible, in a safe and time-saving manner, and be scrupulously accurate for subsequent processing. “Even when designing future products, we look carefully at potential fault sources. We use an additional Personal Safety and Risk Analysis (PSRA), based on the classic FMEA process (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), that has been specially tailored to our require- ments to ensure that problems are detected early enough to be addressed during the design stage. The TÜV review is a constant companion right through to the issuing of the certifi- cate. We call this process ‘Safety by Design’ – safety is a constant compan- ion from the initial idea all the way through to type testing, it’s not just a one-off step during development”, that’s how Markus Jäger, responsible for Product Management, underlines the importance of the process. Crucial Safety Feature – Simple, Clear Communication We keep our customers up to date us- ing targeted knowledge sharing. All our devices come with detailed documenta- tion on the subject of safety, with clear- ly legible, multi-lingual text. Easy-to- understand operating instructions and “How to” videos, references to universal safety rules, and specialized training courses from the OMICRON Academy are additional ways that we highlight potential dangers and encourage safe working practices. Another significant aspect is the ongoing support we provide to our customers. If, for example, something has to be updated, the information is disseminated in a number of ways. One route is through the popular Customer Portal. Entering the serial number of the device returns all of the latest essential information. Another route is through the Sales Manager, who will contact customers individu- ally. In addition, we ensure that all of our employees involved with a product are also familiar with all of its safety features, so they are able to respond to queries or requests for information. 11
