Precise Field Calibration

Use our portable test sets with high-precision voltage and current sources to calibrate your energy meters right in the field, instead of transporting them to test benches. Automated test plans and reporting minimize downtime, reducing the logistical efforts of regular meter verification.

Challenges

Trustworthy Tests. Despite Rush.

Skills shortage

Utilities and service providers responsible for maintaining large meter fleets are facing a skilled staff shortage. Repetitive manual testing is no longer feasible. Automated test plans, templates, and intuitive user interfaces enable less experienced technicians to perform consistent, reliable tests.

Tight testing time windows

Regulations and utility policies often require periodic on‑site testing while the facility is de-energized for protective testing. Multi‑purpose portable test devices for protection, meters, transducers, phasor measurement units, and power quality cut testing time. In addition, they lower investment and training costs.

Data documentation

Test data must be centrally stored and linked to asset IDs to support audits and long‑term performance analysis. Standardized reports reduce manual documentation efforts for service providers and utilities.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find what you are looking for?

How do OMICRON solutions enable meter testing without a reference meter?

Our CMC test sets provide highly accurate, stable voltage and current sources. The Test Universe software and the CMControl P app compare the meter indication directly with the injected values, allowing the CMC test device to serve as a working reference for many on-site and lab tasks.

Can I still use an external reference meter if regulations require it?

Yes, the CMC 430 and the CMC 500 can be combined with external reference meters. You can import reference meter data and parameters into the Test Universe software to meet strict national or type test regulations.

Which OMICRON setup is best suited for highly automated meter testing?

Controlling the CMC 430 or the CMC 500 from a PC running the Test Universe software with the Meter module is the best solution for advanced and automated testing. It supports harmonics, DC superposition, and provides you with template-based test plans.

What is the ideal solution for quick on-site functional checks?

Controlling the CMC 430 or the CMC 310 with CMControl P is ideal for quick functional checks and troubleshooting. The intuitive interface enables fast setup and requires minimal training.

Can I also use CMC test sets to test directly connected meters, such as domestic smart meters?

Our CMC test sets test and calibrate CT/VT-connected, 1- and 3-phase energy meters in substations and industrial facilities with precision. This includes electronic and electromechanical meters for active and reactive energy across typical utility accuracy classes. They are not intended for checking household meters.
