OMICRON Terminal Box (OTB)

The secure interface for advanced PD diagnostics.

Plug-and-play

Drastically reduces setup time.

Signal protection

Prevents external noise from affecting PD data.

Rugged enclosure

IP65-rated for harsh indoor and outdoor environments.

Bridge the Gap Between HV Assets and Data

Our OTB (OMICRON Terminal Box) is a specialized interface that serves as a permanent "on-ramp" for PD signals from your electrical assets. It collects signals from various sensors and prepares them for seamless analysis by our PD measurement and monitoring solutions. By providing a fixed, shielded terminal point, the OTB eliminates complex "spaghetti wiring" in the field, ensuring repeatable connection quality and protecting sensitive measurement hardware from high-voltage transients.

Benefits

Reasons To Choose OMICRON Terminal Box (OTB)

OTB is a robust interface solution designed for seamless online PD measurements and high-voltage asset monitoring. Centralizing connections from permanently installed sensors to PD data acquisition units enables critical asset evaluation under normal operating conditions without requiring equipment downtime.

Plug-and-play integration

Drastically reduces setup time for portable units like our MONTESTO 200 by providing a standardized, ready-to-use connection port.

Superior signal integrity

High-quality shielding and industrial-grade connectors prevent external noise from contaminating sensitive PD data.

Substation-ready housing

The IP65-rated, weatherproof enclosure is designed for long-term survival in harsh indoor and outdoor environments.

Universal compatibility

Acts as the primary interface layer for our MPD series, MONTESTO 200, MONCABLO solution platforms across all related asset types.

How It Works

The OTB serves as the physical interface layer for these OMICRON testing and monitoring systems:

  • MPD 800: The OTB collects the raw PD signals from the asset sensors and passes them to the MPD acquisition units for analysis via shielded cables.
  • MONTESTO 200: For portable on-line monitoring, the OTB provides a standardized port where the MONTESTO 200 can be quickly plugged in for periodic data collection.
  • MONCABLO: In permanent monitoring systems, the OTB serves as the termination point for sensors installed in assets, feeding data to the central processing units.
The OTB simplified testing by centralizing sensor signals into a single hub. This plug-and-play interface eliminates messy wiring and safety issues, providing clean, repeatable PD data without any downtime.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find what you are looking for?

Is the OTB required for every PD test?

While not strictly mandatory for one-off tests, it is highly recommended for safety, signal clarity, and faster setup for recurring, temporary, or permanent monitoring scenarios.

Does the OTB require an external power supply or battery?

No, the OTB is a passive interface box that requires no power, making it maintenance-free and ideal for remote or buried installations.

Does the OTB provide a safety barrier for operators?

Yes, providing a safe, low-voltage interface is its primary function.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes, its IP65-rated housing is dust-tight and water-jet proof, specifically designed to withstand harsh weather conditions in outdoor substations.

Does using a terminal box weaken or affect PD signals?

No, it is engineered with high-quality shielding and low-attenuation components to maintain signal integrity and the high signal-to-noise ratio required for advanced 3PARD and 3FREQ analysis.

Can I retrofit the OTB to an existing asset that already has sensors?

Absolutely. The OTB is a universal hub that easily integrates with existing sensor setups (such as coupling capacitors or HFCTs) to standardize how your team accesses PD data.

Can the OTB handle multiple asset types?

Yes, as it uses standardized BNC inputs, it is equally effective for monitoring transformers, rotating machines, and cable accessories.
