CAL15 – Confidence in Every Measurement
When the condition of critical power assets is on the line, you need complete confidence in your test results. The CAL15 calibration unit helps verify the performance and accuracy of your measurement equipment, ensuring reliable and traceable results in the field and in controlled test environments.
The Foundation for Reliable Test Results
Designed for use with the HVX10, CP TD12, CP TD15, and CP TD1, the CAL15 provides a stable reference for capacitance, dissipation factor (tan delta), and insulation resistance measurements. The unit supports test voltages up to 15 kV AC. Three connectors on the precision reference capacitor provide different dissipation factors, supporting frequency sweep measurements up to 600 Hz. Four integrated reference resistor connectors enable validation of insulation resistance measurements with the HVX10.
Whether used as a field check box for quick performance verification or as a traceable reference standard for calibration tasks, the CAL15 delivers dependable results you can rely on. The unit includes a calibration report traceable to national standards. With its durable design, high-precision components, and long-term stability, the CAL15 is a reliable companion for maintaining confidence in your measurement results year after year.
Can the CAL15 be used in the field or just in lab conditions?
The CAL15 is definitely ready for field use. It comes in a rugged transport case and can be operated within a wide temperature range. For the most accurate results, we recommend laboratory conditions or perform temperature correction as described in the device manual. A built-in NTC in combination with a multi-meter (not included in the package) can be used for an accurate reading of the reference capacitor temperature.
Does the device require maintenance?
No, other than its predecessor, the CAL15 features a vacuum capacitor which requires no maintenance.
Is it possible to adjust OMICRON’s C & PF/DF measurement devices with the CAL15?
Partly. Only the CP TD1, CP TD12 or CP TD15 in combination with a CPC 100 or CPC 80 can be adjusted via the display of the control device.
Is it possible to connect multiple terminals of the CAL15 to the measurement unit?
Yes, but you can only connect the measurement device to one of the resistances, and one of the capacitance connectors at a time. Otherwise, the input impedance of the measurement device will disturb the results.
Does CAL15 have a voltage dependence?
In cooperation with a national metrology institute, it has been verified that the reference capacitor exhibits no voltage dependence. The voltage dependence of the reference resistor is calibrated and documented in the calibration report. It is typically < 1 ppm/V.
Does CAL15 have a temperature dependence?
Yes, the reference capacitor has a temperature coefficient of 24 ppm/°K. The resistors feature a temperature coefficient of < 25 ppm/°K.
