AC/DC Partial Discharge Testing – Do Both With MPD 800

September 2, 2021

For at least the past two decades, AC partial discharge (PD) measurements have typically been performed on high-voltage (HV) and middle-voltage (MV) equipment to detect insulation defects.

However, the shift towards decentralizing energy supplies and the growing number of solar power generation stations, remote offshore wind farms, electric vehicle charging stations, and HVDC power transmission systems, have dramatically increased the development of DC power grids. This in turn has intensified the need for measuring PD under DC voltage.

AC and DC PD testing with one solution

With the latest release of the MPD Suite software version 1.10, our MPD 800 partial discharge (PD) measurement and analysis system provides you with flexible tools for reliably performing both standard-compliant AC PD and DC PD measurements with ease. Even at the same time!
