Since the initial release of the MPD Suite software for our latest-generation MPD 800 partial discharge measurement and analysis system in March 2020, we have continued to make enhancements and add new features to the software which make partial discharge testing more complete, easier and faster.
The MPD Suite Software has been recently updated from Version 1.10 to Version 1.20. New features include support for VLF measurements and GPS synced datasets as well as MPD 600 stream file support and automatic PD event triggered trending.
PD testing with Very-Low Frequency (VLF) test voltages
With its new VLF feature, the MPD Suite software enhances PD testing with sinusoidal VLF test voltages in the range of 0.1 Hz or 0.01 Hz. Manually selecting several VLF settings in the previous MPD 600 software is a procedure of the past. Now this is all performed with one-click in the new MPD Suite software Version 1.20.
GPS synced PD datasets
Users can now also merge PD dataset files within the MPD Suite software for post analysis and for PD localization in power cables using the new GPS synced PD datasets feature. The PD datasets are recorded with two or more MPD 800 systems at different positions along a power cable, such as joints or terminations. The PD dataset files are merged and displayed as one file during the replay. This simplifies the reporting and enables the PD localization for application cases without the possibility to route fibre optical cables.
Support of MPD 600 data streams
In addition, the MPD Suite software can now open and replay stream files which were originally recorded by the MPD and MI Software previously used with our MPD 600 PD measurement devices. This greatly simplifies the compatibility of second-generation MPD 600 devices with the MPD Suite software.
Condition-based triggered measurements
Lastly, Version 1.20 of the MPD Suite software provides users with support for triggering measurement actions based on a trigger condition. This allows for unsupervised measurements during commissioning or prolonged tests without missing important events. It is now possible to automatically create PRPD (phase-resolved PD) screenshots and record dataset files when certain conditions are met, such as either repeatedly after a certain time interval, or when a measurement reading exceeds a configurable threshold for a certain time, or when a certain minimum number of PD pulses appear in a certain place of the PRPD.
