Permanent Partial Discharge Monitoring of Power Cables
Partial discharge (PD) is a common sign of insulation breakdown in power cables and cable accessories, such as joints and terminations, which can eventually result in cost-intensive repairs and prolonged outages.
With suitable sensors, PD activity can be monitored and trended on a permanent, continuous basis during the operating life of the equipment. The terminations and joints of the cable system are typical PD measurement points. Powerful noise suppression and PD source separation algorithms are used to reliably localize harmful PD phenomena in the cable system.
MONCABLO is a customizable, permanently-installed system for the continuous on-line monitoring of partial discharge (PD) activity in the electrical insulation of high-voltage cable systems, including cable terminations and joints. Advanced diagnostic techniques enable you to reliably evaluate insulation condition and locate defects to prevent costly in-service failures at an early stage.
Defect localization in power cables
Using a unique patented technology, PD defects are reliably located along the entire cable length. These features enable you to make PD measurements for after-installation testing of HV cables. The system software also allows you to easily correlate PD data with the data from third-party sensors, such as temperature and oil pressure sensors, also installed on the cable system.
Benefits of this solution
Remote data access
MONTESTO 200 is a portable solution that enables you to perform temporary online partial discharge (PD) monitoring. You can use the IP65-rated solution both indoors and outdoors on various medium-voltage and high-voltage electrical assets under load to trend PD activity and assess insulation condition. Automated software features allow you to quickly and reliably detect insulation defects and locate signal sources.
