Aside from these characteristics, equipment maintenance depends on the application in the system and the philosophy being employed. Testing on the apparatus is usually performed by several testing teams throughout the equipment’s lifetime. In order to support the required workload, these teams need to be able to share all relevant asset data such as nameplate data and test results. PTM helps utilities master this challenge.

Through the use of our innovative approach, using a communications system model of the substation, StationGuard detects cyber threats as well as communication issues, such as excessive GOOSE processing delays and time synchronization issues.

StationGuard analyzes all communication on the station and process bus and it will raise an alarm if a device communicates in a way that does not comply with the system model (positive listing/whitelisting approach). Using this approach, StationGuard can also detect yet unknown cyber attacks on the power grid. This makes it the perfect fit to protect transmission, distribution and generation substations.
