PTM DataSync "web" versus PTM DataSync "on premises"
PTM DataSync "on premises" is best suited for customers who prefer to host their data on their own internal servers. The server infrastructure, data hosting, support, and maintenance are all managed by the customer's IT department.
By contrast, PTM DataSync "web" is a "software as a service" (SaaS) solution that attracts an annual subscription. All the required services are provided by OMICRON together with Microsoft Azure, our professional hosting partner. PTM DataSync "web" enables us to offer our customers additional functionality and outstanding levels of support. A general worldwide trend towards cloud solutions is becoming increasingly apparent.
Everything at a Glance with DataSync Manager (DSM) and PTM Data Analytics
PTM DataSync "web" uses DataSync Manager (DSM) to provide browser-based access to the server data. DSM combines administrator functions with a complete overview of locations, assets, the tasks carried out, and their histories. DSM can also recover earlier versions of tasks or restore ones that were accidentally deleted.
The optional PTM Data Analytics license provides extra functionality on the server:
- Some additional filters and widgets added to DSM for deeper insights into test results and equipment condition
- Simple interface to BI tools such as Excel or Power BI for further data analysis
- Integration of data into your company's software environment using standardized interfaces
- OData - read access to all equipment data and test results
- JSON - for importing equipment data from a leading asset management system
