Common Electrical Tests on Power Transformers
Before the initial use of a transformer acceptance tests are required for confirming that it is working properly to guarantee safe operation. Mechanical changes to windings, caused for example by transportation, and contact problems at other connections can be detected before first operation. The proper condition of transformer and bushing insulation, as well as fault-free windings, can all be confirmed by using conventional testing methods. These test results can also be used as reference values for future measurements.
These conventional testing methods include measuring the short circuit impedance, transformer ratio, magnetizing current, winding resistance, dynamic winding resistance of the tap changer, as well as the dissipation factor and capacitance. With our testing system, you can use a single device to determine all of these parameters in an easy way. Once you have completed the testing, you can also demagnetize the transformer.
